A warm welcome from the Headteacher

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to the Knollmead website. It is a pleasure to greet all parents and carers who are interested in the school.

Knollmead is a one form entry primary school with a nursery and is situated on the Sunray Estate in Tolworth. We feel that our school is at the heart of this community and the majority of our children live very locally. The school population reflects the local community and is culturally diverse.

Our vision for Knollmead is to create an environment where children are able to develop positive attitudes towards learning and school. We aim for every child to believe in his or her self worth so that each has the confidence to strive for the highest possible standards of personal and academic achievement - at Knollmead "Every Child Matters". As a one form entry school with 210 children in the main school we acquire a personal knowledge of each child and ensure that we meet their individual needs. The school environment encourages co-operation and interaction in a caring way.

Knollmead is an inclusive environment with a strong commitment to supporting children with special educational needs in the mainstream setting. It has specialist resources for hearing impaired children, using total communication methods and provision for children with autistic spectrum disorder and severe learning difficulties in Nursery, KS1 and KS2. Children and staff view this integration very positively.

Children are placed at the heart of all our decisions and are active partners in the learning process. The school council and our team of peer mediators contribute positively to the successful running of the school.

The school is fortunate to be situated on a green and attractively landscaped site with a conservation area, hard surface playground, field playing areas, adventure playground and an open air heated swimming pool. The school is spacious and well equipped. The nursery and reception class work very closely together and their excellent outdoor learning areas promote the learning opportunities available. We are particularly proud of our Information Computer Technology facilities, having a computer suite and interactive whiteboards in every classroom to enhance both teaching and learning.

Our stable team of staff, both teaching and support, are extremely conscientious and work collaboratively at all times to promote the school aims. We are proud of their commitment and the standard of teaching throughout the school.

Knollmead is a school where everybody works together to create a safe and happy learning environment and we believe that each member of the school community contributes to this ethos.
